While it was a lazy Sunday morning in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, our PPAM committee was making a presentation to Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) as office hours in Kedah and East Coast states differ from the Federal Capital and the rest of the country.

This presentation was to introduce the concept of Art Tourism and our up-coming event, Langkawi Art Biennale 2020 to the LADA officials, have discussions and seek their support.

The meeting was chaired by En. Azmil Munif bin Mohd Bukhari, Senior Principal Assistant Manager (not in the photo), Tourism Division, LADA. After a lengthy discussion, he had to rush off to another meeting.

Nor Azhar (LADA official), Dato’ Latifah Mohammad Taib (PPAM President), Liew Kian Yap (Founder of ArtMalaysia), Jane Khoo (PPAM Secretary) and Ameera.

LADA has expressed their interest in our art tourism efforts as it is in line with their own objectives and vision for Langkawi. En Azmil and team has assured us that they will support PPAM and Langkawi Art Biennale 2020.

LADA is the body responsible for all the efforts put in to get Langkawi and all its 99 islands listed under UNESCO Global Geopark. LAB 2020 participants will be able witness more 500 million year-old rock formations.
