As soon as Langkawi International Art Tourism 2022 (LIAT2022) ended on 4 September 2022, my contractor quickly dismantled the art booths and moved all the paintings to the store for safe-keeping. It was a very tiring week for all of us.

The success of LIAT2022 was very encouraging and continues to fuel the passion in me to make Langkawi, an international art destination. Without hesitation, I rushed to Kuala Lumpur to share with my friends on my plan to organize Langkawi Art Biennale 2024. I also started on the social media and started inviting international participants.

I have driven from town to town to have meeting with artists and art associations. I travelled on my old-faithful Land Rover Defender pickup. It is one of the most reliable 4×4 truck because it runs well on all terrains although it comes with very heavy maintenance on wear and tear.

I am overwhelmed by the unceasing responds shown by artists and art associations in making Langkawi, an international art destination. It’s not easy but yet it is not impossible. I always remind myself that “Rome was not built in one day”.
