Abu Jalal Sarimon

I paint full time. It is a profession that allow me to enjoy my day. Doing daily what I like most, read, research, sketch, paint. When I am immersed in painting it rejuvenates me and never fails to make me feel good.

Painting is a kind of therapy, a form of meditation. With full discipline and deep concentration, I deliver my true potential. I paint to explore and find magical realm of the irresistible. I challenge myself to realise ideas into visuals.

I view painting as a selfless and beautiful act. It is like a spiritual journey, where I am in my own world, yet I am aware of my surrounding. I trust, doing my art at ‘my best’ instead of ‘the best’ and I’d rather compare myself with myself. In that way I won’t let down anybody, or myself.

REAL MAN CRIES

Narrative

I love to explore the richness, joyous and harmonious of colours. I pick human, nature and objects around me as my subject matter that gives freshness and spontaneity to life. I portray colourful perspective to my paintings by applying the vibrant colours, the creative styling, the strong drawing skill with intellectual inclinations yet comical in composition.

TOUCH

The Call of the Mind

My artworks are among the many modes through which I commit “The Call of the Mind” bringing my thoughts and ideas, presented to human cultural sensibility. Characterised by finesse and sense of humour, my creations encourage viewers to evaluate the hidden meanings of each work, behind their seemingly simple yet candid compositions. Always ‘strong in colour’, the nature of my artwork is openly apparent, and I thoroughly composed this mode of expression to create engaging conversation with my viewers.

My medium of choice is acrylics because it is dearer, cleaner and quick drying so I can execute more layers on my canvas. Social Commentary is my genre with Big Nose the signature character putting me on the art map. I paint everything, anything under the sky – people on the move, portrait, landscape, animals, abstract, still life, realism, comic etc.

I am blessed for my art works are well received by the art community, collectors, museums and was awarded with prestigious accolades, namely:

My artworks have been auctioned by Christie Auction House, Singapore President Charity, Picenum Casa D’Aste & Galleria D’Arte (Italy), UOB Bank Charity Drive and well collected by various Museums, Banks, Hotels, Professionals, Government Agencies and Private Collectors local and overseas.

I love travelling, sketching, reading and writing hence those good habits influence most of my works. I create each artwork as an avenue to share and challenge the viewer’s natural and ideological perceptions of this fast-shaping world. Driven by my sharp observation and conceptual visual expression, my aesthetic variations transform common idea with a fundamental concern towards society, the environment and humanities.

A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED

My favourite quote: “
There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun” – Pablo Picasso.
