
Luq Zaidismail (b. 1971), a self-taught art-maker with skills build up from years of trials and hands-on experiences. Though his artistic talent was discovered in his primary school years, Luq Zaidismail started to engage seriously in the art field in 2004.
During his initial years in the world of visual arts, Luq Zaidismail experimented with watercolour. Later on, he took a bold move towards acrylic and oil paint. As a result, he is drawing more attention and fans clamour to own his art pieces, producing visuals that are vivid and eye-popping, receiving overwhelmingly positive responses from patrons and collectors of Malaysian art.
In 2018, in conjunction with the installation ceremony of the 29th Sultan of Kedah, Luq Zaidismail was honoured with the once-in-a-lifetime commission; to beautify Melur Palace walls and columns, Anak Bukit, the official royal palace and residence, with a series of mural.
Luq Zaidismail has participated in numerous local dan international group shows and actively tutors art newbies ranging from 4 years old to 60 years old. From the painting tutorials, emerge several new talents who have joined art exhibitions and competitions, nationally and internationally. As a realist artist, Luq Zaidismail loves depicting traditional culture and heritage. He reiterates that life is a blend of life and culture, and it is his cause to immortalises the folk culture scenes in all the visual artworks he produces
