After retiring from government service as Land Commissioner in 2012, Wahab refocuses on his true passion as an artist and painter. He draws inspiration for his art from his many travels and enjoys venturing off the beaten track. A passionate abstract artist, he prolifically produced artwork, a minimum one artwork daily of various sizes. His deep and vast knowledge of land subjects has moved him to produce artworks with a strong resemblance to earth, land, forest, and anything that is closely knitted to earth. He loves reading and history is the subject that he loves most. Hence the subject of land combined with the essence of history has brought him busy producing a series of artworks on previous empires who used to rule the land of Borneo. He is an interesting person to engage with hence a cup of black coffee can never be enough to talk with him from dawn to sunset.
