JOSRIE HARAL

I began seriously immersing myself as a full-time painter in the art industry in 2015 until now. Besides that, I also involve myself in the film industry as a crew (art department/props). My creations are not only limited to painting; I also produce caricatures, prints, digital illustrations, videos, designs, and installations.

I tend to create works in a conceptual form, while my chosen subjects are figurative and nature-based. Acrylic paint and bitumen are the primary materials I use, but I also experiment with various industrial materials and techniques to achieve aesthetic value in my work.

My latest work, titled “Buka Akal dan Lurus Hati,” created using bitumen, acrylic, and Posca markers, represents a personal expression while adhering to the theme of Reset. What I want to convey here is that we need to open our minds to seek opportunities and make decisions to survive in life after more than 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic. It cannot be denied that during this period, many health, economic, and family-related issues occurred, which I believe had some impact on mental and physical well-being. However, we need to open our hearts and minds to accept these circumstances and move on to live life as usual

BIPIN SHINOL

I am Bipin Shinol, a resident of Ahmedabad. I have completed my post diploma in painting from faculty of fine Arts, M.S. University Baroda in 1999. Since then I am working on my painting, which is about my experiences of everyday life. I work with personalized form of expression where many of the times the protagonist is myself. An image that resemblance to my face structure with a character who is an observer at one point and at other he is unaware of his acts, simply is a layman, involved in natures process of life on this earth.

Artist’s Statement

I give much emphasis on drawing quality in my work. Adding comparative elements as in one of my recent painting. I showed an accidental incident in comparison with a child play. I feel an urge to improve my quality by exploring various possibilities as in this work. My technique of painting assimilates the use of high-resolution scanning of prints and photos, composing the same using latest computer software [Adobe Photoshop] and hardware, as well using large format digital printing

AMEL HAJJAR

Amel is a self-taught artist and has been painting seriously from the age of 14. She is well known among the painter’s community in Tunisia as she is very productive and often participates in various art exhibitions. She also travels to Europe and occasionally exhibits her work in Italy, Greece & Germany. She paints semi-abstract, landscape, and impressionist work.

Artist’s Statement

So many of us come from a background that told us ‘good art = realistic art”, and it can be hard to break away from that into something more abstract and expressive. And it doesn’t take much exploring to discover that making effective abstract art is a lot harder than it might first appear!

Making a painting more abstract, or, as I would call it, abstractifying, is essentially a process of simplification, which is not to say the result won’t be rich and complex. It involves a combo of intuitive and deliberate decisions, between which you dance as you bring a painting to life.

SHEILA KHO TING LING

Sheila’s semi-abstract expressionism style allows her to venture outside the norm. Her choice of colors is often denoted by her emotion. Sheila’s work is an expression of herself, born out of profound emotion and universal themes. This has led her to explore various forms with many different mediums. Sheila uses rich tones to accentuate the interpretation of her paintings in her work in watercolour and acrylic on canvas. Her paintings regularly provoke her audience to join her in exploring their senses and connection with their subconscious mind.   Her work takes her viewers to a different dimension away from the world of familiarity and leaves them to experience total freedom of expression.

Sheila has exhibited her work in numerous exhibitions, locally and overseas since 2014. Many pieces of her art are in homes and offices in Malaysia and overseas. A few of her paintings are also collected by Sarawak State Library, Malaysia. In late December 2021, Sheila donated a piece of her artwork entitled “A Glowing Heart” to Sarawak Heart Hospital to honour all the frontliners for their selfless service. Sheila’s entry in the Npo International Art Exchange exhibition held in Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Japan in March 2023 was awarded a Gold Medal for her artwork.

Besides her love for painting, Sheila is passionate in nurturing youths in developing life skills. Sheila holds an Advanced Certified Trainer certificate from Lions Club International and is also a HRD Corp Accredited Trainer where she conducts soft skills training sessions with creative elements in the programme. Sheila holds a MSc degree in Training and Human Resource Management (Leicester Uni, England) and a diploma in Montessori early childhood education (London).

Sheila paints regularly and gives art lessons to students with special needs and adults who like to try their hands in painting. She also runs fun workshops for adults who like to explore their creativity and to de-stress in their free time.
