Ourmila Gupta

Mila was offered a cultural scholarship in 1911 to study Fine Arts after having completed her secondary education at the Queen Elizabeth College. She was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree after 5 years of study at the MS University of Baroda in India. Mila has worked as an educator in art in State Secondary Schools for 34 years and freelancing side by side since 1975. She has been regularly working and exhibiting her paintings in solo, duo and group shows in Mauritius and abroad. Her works are found in many private collections across the world. In her paintings – plants become symbolic of life on earth, represented in concrete form but intensely dreamlike. They invite the onlooker to become one with them and live the moment together.
