Babita Das
Babita Das, after acquiring Master of Fine Arts in
Printmaking degree from Viswa Bharati University (1992), she had the privilege
to work as Indian National Scholar (1992-93) in all the art institutes of
India. She has been teaching art at Primary and Secondary Levels at a private
school in Kolkata, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy for a decade since 1996. She
followed a spate of 25 group and 27 solo exhibitions, which opened up avenues
for her national and international exposure. She received an invitation from
Ministries of Culture and of Education of France and regional Councils to
perform various workshops and shows in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, to
celebrate the festival “Autour Du Tempa Des Poetes”. She was also involved in an
innovative audio-visual presentation "Bandish" - a symphony of painting
synchronous with music at Music World, Kolkata, 2002. The Scientific Commitee
of 5th Biennale, Florence, selected Babita Das as an artist representing India,
to showcase three paintings at Fortezza da Basso in 2005 at the "International
Biennale of Contemporary Art."
