Joan Marie Kelly

Joan Marie Kelly has been living in Singapore since 2005. Presently, she holds a faculty position in the art school at Nanyang Technological University also in Singapore. Kelly involves herself in socially engaged art investigating the status of migrant workers. The act of painting is an encounter with marginalized communities. These communities range from foreign workers, and maids in locations such as Kolkata, Singapore and Shenzhen. She exhibits her work internationally, recently participating in two International Art Workshops in Thailand with Rajamangala University of Technology and Naresuan University and The 1st Baoshang International Workshop in Changzhou China. Recent solo shows have been held in New Delhi 2012 and New York City 2011.  Recent Invited Biennale’s include: Izmir Biennale 2013 where Kelly was also a guest speaker, 5th Beijing Biennale 2012, 1st Ecorea International Art Biennale 2012 (Korea), 1st Casablanca International Biennale 2012 and Biennale D’Arte Internationale Di Roma 2012.
