Short biography

Born 6 April 1962 in Birkerod, Denmark. Lives in Malaysia most of the time, Summer time in Denmark.

Co-founder of the Life Drawing Community Kuala Lumpur.

Started exhibiting her artworks in 2009.

Danish artist Charlotte Donvang is an energetic artist, visionary, healer and spiritual being. She has exhibited in Denmark, Lithuania, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and India in both group and solo shows.

To Charlotte, art is an expression of the most fundamental and basic of life: energy. Profound written messages accompany each work, helping the viewer explore the uniqueness of her inner Universe.

She is inspired by ancient wisdom and the simple art of observation of people, nature and life. She questions what immediately meets the eye in search of a deeper truth. She looks at the essence of life in general while encouraging you to look into yours and question the way you look at life.

Artist Statement

I want to express my emotions rather than illustrate them. It doesn’t matter how the paint is put on, as long as my inner world is expressed. Funny thing is… I never know what story is being told when I create my art. It only becomes apparent later when I talk with my art through meditation. But honestly, my whole creation process feels like one big meditation for me!

Through painting I find answers to big questions in life or causes of my obstacles. I get explanations to why certain things happen in my life. And on occasions, unfortunately sometimes much later… they tell me what I should have listened to when I created that piece of art!

After painting I always feel more free, more balanced, more at peace. It’s like one big cleansing process for me. While the art is ultimately created for me, I hope you’ll find some inspiration that can help ask some deep questions about your life. Maybe my art can help you find a spot of peace within…
